MyPSA National Pharmacy Competition
PIALA AISHAH COMPOUNDING CHALLENGE (PA):
Pharmacy Student Society, UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (PSS RCMP) will be the host for Piala Aishah Compounding Challenge (PA) and co-hosting the NPC event with other two local societies from different university.
“Beyond Your Ordinary Compounding World” is the theme that PSS UniKL RCMP has chosen to perfectly portrays the transformation of compounding skills and clinical knowledge from physical mode to online mode.
PA is an online-based competition that provides a platform for the Bachelor of Pharmacy students throughout Malaysia to compete healthily and demonstrate students’ level of competence in compounding and clinical knowledge. This competition covered the topic of extemporaneous preparations that include solid, semi-solid, or liquid dosage forms. The participants have been assessed with three distinctive rounds which include 50 Multiple Choices Questions (Round 1), 50 True or False Questions (Round 2) and 2 Case Study-type Questions (Round 3).
PHARMACY QUIZ CHALLENGE (QC):
Persatuan Mahasiswa Fakulti Farmasi (PMFFar), UKM was the host for Pharmacy Quiz Challenge.
In this competition, there will be 3 stages which are preliminary round, semi-final round and final round. The preliminary round is Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). The succeeded team will proceed to the semi-final round which is oral-based Short Answer Question (SAQ) and subsequently to the final round which is also oral-based Short Answer Question (SAQ).
CLINICAL PHARMACY CHALLENGE (CC):
Due to the ongoing COVID- 19 pandemic, the organizing committees from IMU Pharmacy Students’ Association (IPSA) have decided to conduct the Clinical Pharmacy Challenge via online mode. The Clinical Pharmacy Challenge consists of three (3) main rounds: in Qualifying Round 1, there will be 20 MCQs and three (3) SAQs to be completed within 1 hour and 15 minutes by filling the answers in the Google Form. MCQs will be marked by the proctors and will be counterchecked by different proctors, whereas SAQs will be marked by the lecturers.
In Qualifying Round 2, it is known as Objective Structure Clinical Examination (OSCE) test. Participants are required to complete all three (3) sessions, the orders are as follow: (1) Prescription Screening, (2) Medication or Device Counselling and (3) Ward Simulation. Each participant’s performance will be assessed by the external examiners. For Final Round, a total of four (4) teams will be each given a different case study for presentation. After 1 hour of preparation, each team will have 30 minutes of presentation via Facebook live. Each team’s presentation will be evaluated by professional judges.
The registration opened in two phases, 22 nd March until 1st April for Phase 1 and 1st April until 9th April for Phase 2. A total of 17 teams have registered for this event, with each total consists of 2 persons. We have also invited participating universities to send adjudicators to evaluate the competition. We have managed to get total of 8 judges to evaluate the 3rd round of the competition. Moreover, the participants will be required to register on the day of the event for the attendance purpose. Then, all 17 teams will be assigned accordingly to their Zoom breakout room, with each room having at least 2 teams which is monitored by a proctor. The event briefing for the participants were also conducted to ensure all of them completely understand the flow of the event.
The top 3 teams in ascending order are IIUM A, Taylor A and USM A.




Top 4 teams for final round were UoC TeamA, Taylor Team A, Taylor Team B and UKM Team A.
From all the 4 teams, the Champion is Taylor’s Team A.
The registration phase was opened from 22nd March to 1 st April 2021. A total of 20 teams from 13 different universities had registered for the competition. An emcee was recruited to introduce the speakers, judges and to brief the participants regarding the rules and regulations of the competition in each round. We have applied the OSCE format as well as proctoring method from IMU in this competition. For the announcement of top for (4) winners and case presentation for final round were conducted via Facebook live to attract more audiences, with total views of 192 and 562 respectively. Four (4) different case studies were used during the Final Round instead of the same case study among four (4) teams to make the session more interesting.
The top three (3) winners of the Final Round were as follows: IIUM Team 2, IMU Team 2 and IMU Team 1.
Hence, IIUM Team 2 was the champion of Clinical Pharmacy Challenge 2021.
