MyPSA National Pharmacy Research Competition
The 4th MyPSA National Pharmacy Research Competition (NPRC) 2021 was organised by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). It was held from the 30th April 2021 to 2nd May 2021 via Zoom Platform and Facebook Live.
On the 30th April 2021, the event was kickstarted with an opening ceremony at 8.30am. The opening ceremony began with a Kahoot Quiz session followed by Doa Recitation, speeches from the VIPs and a briefing on MyPSA NPRC’s Rules and Regulations respectively. The VIPs who attended the opening ceremony are Associate Professor Dr. Razman bin Mohd Rus, the Deputy Campus Director (Campus Development Supporting Services) of IIUM Kuantan Campus, Assistant Professor Dr. Zalikha binti Ibrahim, Deputy Dean (Student Development & Community Engagement of Kulliyyah of Pharmacy IIUM, Mr. Amrahi bin Buang, President of Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS), Miss Teh Ying Ying, MyPSA President 2020/21 and Mr. Lai Yue Jiun, MyPSA Education Officer 2020/21.
Opening Ceremony
On the second day of the event (1st May 2021), a briefing session for the first round of competition was conducted. The participants were competing in 2 groups which are Group A which consists of the categories (Pharmacy Practice, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy Education and Pharmacology) and Group B which consists of the categories (Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutics).
Round 1 Presentation
Group A completed their first round of competition by presenting the poster on a summary of the research and a Q&A session from the judges starting from 9.00 am. The competition was continued with the first round poster presentation by participants from Group B from 11.00am to 12.30pm. After a break from the first round of competition, the event was continued from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, with 2 webinar sessions by 2 speakers. The first speaker was Associate Professor Dr. Hazrina binti Ab. Hadi whose topic was “Tips on Writing a Good Research Paper”. Associate Professor Dr. Hazrina binti Ab. Hadi’s sharing session was held from 2.00pm to 3.15pm. The second webinar on “Research Paper Presentation Tips” sharing session was done by Associate Professor Dr. Izzat Fahimuddin bin Mohamed Suffian from 3.45pm to 5.00pm. The first 100 participants who attended the webinars were given a free voucher to Tealive beverage.

The top 4 winners from Group A and Group B were announced and they qualified into the second round of the competition which was an Oral Presentation with slides. The participants were given 10 minutes to present their project and a 5 minutes Q&A session from the judges.

On the final day of competition (2nd May 2021), the qualifying participants from each group started their competition from 9.00am to 11.30am. The competition began with the 4 finalists from Group A and then continued with 4 finalists from Group B. With the end of the presentation, it marked the end of the competition.
The closing ceremony was held at 3.00pm on the 2nd May. The closing ceremony was started with Doa Recitation, followed by speeches from VIPs and the announcement of the top 3 winners from Group A and Group B, 3 special awards and 3 video contest winners. The VIPs for the closing ceremony are Associate Professor Dr. Che Suraya binti Hj Mohd Zin, Dean of Kulliyyah of Pharmacy IIUM, Br. Mohammad Adam Al Haqimy bin Mohammad Yunus, President of IIUM Pharmacy Students’ Society (IPHA), Miss Teh Ying Ying, MyPSA President 2020/21, Miss Cheng Su Anne, MyPSA Vice President I 2020/21 and Mr. Lai Yue Jiun, MyPSA Education Officer 2020/21.
