MyPSA Pharmacy Graduate Career Forum

The MyPSA Pharmacy Graduate Career Forum (PGCF) 2025 was successfully held on 29th June 2025 (Saturday) at UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur Campus. It is a full-day event featuring Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) sharing sessions, Board Certified Pharmacy Specialist (BPS) insights, scholarship talks, panel discussions, and interactive networking opportunities. Guided by the theme “Pioneering Excellence: Shaping the Future of Pharmacy,” the forum highlighted the importance of adaptability, leadership, and innovation in navigating the evolving pharmacy landscape. It aimed to empower participants with the latest knowledge on PRP training, expose them to niche and specialized career pathways, and provide meaningful platforms for networking with industry professionals and peers. 

ACTIVITIES:

The program began with the registration of participants and the setup of networking booths by invited pharmacy companies and organizations. Thereafter, the opening ceremony commenced, marked by the arrival of distinguished guests, VIPs, and the project directors of the MyPSA PGCF 2025. The event began with an opening speech delivered by Mr. Por Choo Shiuan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UCSI University, representing the collaboration partner of MyPSA PGCF 2025. This was followed by speeches from Mr. Khong Hua Jun, President of MyPSA 2024/25, and the Project Director of MyPSA PGCF 2025, Mr. Ng Chi Lun, who highlighted the objectives of the forum and welcomed all participants to a day of knowledge-sharing and networking.

PRP Sharing Session

The event officially began with a sharing session focusing on the Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) journey, where speakers provided insights into different practice settings. During this session, Ms. Elia Nadira Shabuddin, Ph. Amy Tang Wai Ying, and Ms. Norhana Nawawi Suri shared their experiences in hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy, and industrial pharmacy, respectively. Each session consisted of a 30-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute Q&A session, allowing participants to directly engage with the speakers. The morning segment concluded with a Board Certified Pharmacy Specialist (BPS) sharing session by Dr. Low Bee Yean, before the program broke for lunch and the networking scavenger hunt.

Networking Booth

The networking session was held concurrently with the lunch break, providing participants with the opportunity to engage with exhibitors and explore career pathways. A total of five organizations participated in the networking booths: Alpro Pharmacy, National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), Bahagian Penguatkuasaan Farmasi (Kuala Lumpur & Petaling Jaya), PMG Pharmacy, and Health Lane Family Pharmacy.

Scholarship Sharing Session

Following the lunch break and networking session, the program continued with the Scholarship Sharing Sessions. Ms. Loo Shan Yi, an undergraduate scholarship holder of the Star Education Fund Scholarship, shared her journey and provided valuable insights into the application process and opportunities available for pharmacy students. This was followed by a session from Ms. Joyce Toh Ker Ro, a Chevening scholarship recipient, who highlighted her experience in pursuing postgraduate studies with scholarship support in the United Kingdom and offered guidance to aspiring candidates under the same scholarship. Both sessions allowed participants to better understand the pathways and requirements for securing scholarships at different stages of their academic journey.

Graduate Forum

The Forum Session on Niche Pharmacy Fields was one of the afternoon highlights, featuring a diverse panel of speakers who introduced participants to specialized areas of pharmacy beyond the conventional practice settings. Dr. Fhataheya Buang shared her expertise in Veterinary Pharmacy, highlighting the pharmacist’s role in animal health and medicine safety; Mr. Sean Liew spoke on Business Development and Corporate Wellness in Pharmacy, demonstrating how pharmacists can contribute in corporate and entrepreneurial spaces; Ms. Oui Hui Che presented on Telepharmacy, emphasizing its growing importance in improving patient access to care through digital platforms; and Ms. Tee Jia Xin provided insights into Nuclear Pharmacy, a highly technical field dealing with radiopharmaceuticals for medical applications. The session was moderated by Ms. Chow Xin Ying, who facilitated an engaging dialogue and interactive Q&A, allowing participants to gain meaningful insights into the breadth of opportunities that niche pharmacy fields can offer.

A closing speech was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Marwan Abdelmahmoud Abdelkarim Maki, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UCSI University, followed by remarks from Ms. Ku Ke Ying, the Project Director of the MyPSA Pharmacy Graduate Career Forum 2025. The session concluded with a token of appreciation presentation, a group photo with participants and speakers, and the final lucky draw. The forum officially ended with the dismissal of participants at 5:30 p.m.
