MyPSA Young Entrepreneur Program
MyPSA YEP is an annual event designed to introduce the basic skills and knowledge about entrepreneurship. With the theme of "Gen Z Pharmapreneurs", MyPSA YEP 2023 highlights the importance of digitalisation in the healthcare field, offering a glimpse into the future of the industry.
The program comprises of two phases. Phase I: Imagineering Phase consists of online webinars to provide an overview of entrepreneurship opportunities in the healthcare field and cover topics such as ideation, design thinking, validation, and prototyping.
Phase II: Make It Real Phase, was conducted physically on 25th August until 27th August 2023 at Monash University. It offers a unique opportunity for participants to work on their ideas with the help of experienced mentors from hands-on workshops, mentoring sessions and pitching competition.
DAY 1:
The event was started on 12th August 2022 with welcoming speech and opening ceremony officiated by HTM Pharmacy representative, Mr. Lai Jun Hua. Next, the event continues with ice breaking session between participants. This was then followed by Workshop 1: 'How To Make A Perfect Pitch' by Mr. Yong Wei Shian. Each group proceeded with group discussion of their business model ideas afterwards.
DAY 2:
On the second day, the participants played Team Building Games before starting webinar. Day 2 comprises of three webinars; Workshop 2: 'Business Modelling' by Ms. Tee Ai Ven, Workshop 3: 'Business Planning: Business Financing' by Mr. Lim Lip Jinn and Workshop 4: Business Planning: Legal and Regulatory Compliance by Dr. Shawn Ong Kuan Shion. Mentoring session and group discussion of pitching ideas were conducted after each webinars session ended. Six of the expert mentors were Ms. Mallory Loone, Mr. Lim Lip Jinn, Dr. Lim Ing Kien, Ms. Peggy Chai, Dr. Daniel Loy and Ms. Tee Ai Ven.
DAY 3:
Day 3 of MyPSA YEP was the day where the participants had their pitching competition. Beforehand, the final workshop was conducted; Workshop 5: 'Business Planning - Digital Marketing' by Dr. Yivian Ho. Next, the event continued with Sharing Talk: 'From a Student Idea to Commercialization' by Dr. Khor Kang Xiang.
In the afternoon, the participants who were grouped into seven groups presented their business ideas in front of the judges and the judges invited were Dr. Choe Tong Seng, Mr. Yeo Keh Hau (John), Mr. Lai Jun Hua and Mr. Munaver Ahmad Bin Nazir Ahmad. The participants had presented their ideas in 10 minutes and had a Q&A session for 5 minutes.
Pitching Competition
The closing ceremony was held at 4:00 p.m. with prize giving ceremony. The 2nd Runner-up was Team AIDCare, 1st Runner-up won by Panic Aid and the champion was Team United Minds.
