The 5th MyPSA National Pharmacy Research Competition (NPRC) 2022 was organised by the Taylor's University. It was held starting from 26th March 2022 to 27th March 2022. In a two-day event, the 5th MyPSA NPRC 2022 achieved success with the collaboration of over 16 universities throughout Malaysia.

ACTIVITIES:

The first day began with a short Kahoot quiz for the participants to warm up, followed by the opening ceremony opened exclusively to the VVIPs, judges and participants. The opening ceremony began with the doa recitation, Taylor's national anthem and speeches by the President of MPS (Mr. Amrahi Bin Buang), Acting Head of School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Taylor’s University (Dr. Renukha Sellappans), MyPSA President (Mr. Lai Yue Jiun) and the 5th MyPSA NPRC Programme Director (Ms. Cheng Su Anne).

A briefing on the flow of the competition as well as delegation of break-out rooms were done followed by the Round 1 presentation for Category 1 and 2; where participants presented the posters of their research to the judges with breaks in between. A special category (Category 3) had been held for students to showcase their research proposal with an oral presentation. A webinar and forum was held in the evening of the first day; the former focussed on ‘General Thesis Presentation Tips’ while the latter focused on the ‘Significance of Research in Helping the Transformation of Pharmacy Practice’.

The event continued with Round 1 of Main Competition, where a briefing session for the first round of competition was conducted beforehand. The participants were competing in 2 groups which are Group A which consists of the categories (Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacometrics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacovigilance & Pharmacoeconomics, and Pharmacy Education) and Group B which consists of the categories (Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology). The competition started with rules & regulations briefing, before proceeding with poster presentation for 5 minutes and Q&A session from judges for 5 minutes. At the end of the event, the judges announced ten ten finalists, which five finalists from each category are qualified to Round 2.

The second day kicked off with the Young Researcher’s workshop which was open to the 1st - 3rd year pharmacy students concurrent with a team-building event was prepared for the participants of NPRC main competition followed by the announcement of Round 1 presentation results. The participants then presented their research in Powerpoint slides format for Round 2 in the afternoon. A lucky draw session was also prepared after Round 2 presentation was completed followed by the closing ceremony which consisted of the al-Fatihah recitation and prayer, closing remarks by the lecturer advisor of TuPSS (Mr Ganesh), Mr. Lai Yue Jiun and Ms. Cheng Su Anne. The results of NPRC main competition and YRW were then announced and the winners were awarded with sponsored vouchers and products. The event officially ended with a photo session by the Organising Committee of the 5th MyPSA NPRC 2022.
