8th MyPSA NPRC 2025
MyPSA National Pharmacy Research Competition
The National Pharmacy Research Competition (NPRC) is an event of the Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA) that is conducted every year which involves 21 pharmacy student societies in Malaysia. The 8th MyPSA NPRC 2025 consists of a main competition and 3 side activities that will be conducted throughout the programme.
In 2025, the 8th MyPSA NPRC 2025 was organised by MAHSA University Pharmacy Students’ Society (MuPSS) with the theme of “Healing Through Innovation: The Pharmacist’s Journey”. This theme was chosen to trace the journey of innovation in pharmacy, from research to real-world application.
8th MyPSA NPRC 2025 was conducted both physically and online for the respective competitions and activities. The primary purpose of conducting this event is to foster healthy competition among students around the country in terms of research and personal soft skills. This event fosters networking opportunities and productive relationships among participants from various pharmacy schools across Malaysia. The variety of competitions helped strengthen the bonds among participants, fostered new connections throughout the programme, and reflected the full commitment of everyone involved.

Comprehensive Research Methodology Workshop (CRMW): The Complete Research Pack: Elevate Your Skills from A to Z
The Comprehensive Research Methodology Workshop (CRMW) is designed to equip Year 1 to Year 4 pharmacy students with a strong foundation in research, preparing them for their final year projects and beyond. Delivered in an online format to maximise accessibility, the workshop features a structured series of sessions covering key components such as research ethics, proposal writing, data collection methods, statistical analysis, scientific writing, referencing tools, and effective presentation techniques. Participants will engage in interactive speakers, hands-on exercises, and Q&A sessions. All the participants will also receive a certificate of participation. Notably, the CRMW also serves as a gateway to the YouthPioneers Research Quest (YPRQ), providing students with a structured path to apply their newly acquired skills in a more dynamic and competitive setting.

Young Researchers Challenge
YouthPioneers Research Quest (YPRQ)
The YouthPioneers Research Quest (YPRQ) is a follow-up initiative that offers pharmacy students an opportunity to put their research knowledge into practice through a guided, project-based experience. Open to CRMW participants who demonstrate a keen interest or submit a promising proposal, YPRQ promotes collaborative learning and scientific inquiry. Students will be grouped into teams, either across different academic years or institutions, and assigned mentors from among experienced lecturers or researchers. Each team will identify a relevant topic in pharmacy practice, develop a research question, and conduct a small-scale study. Regular consultation sessions will be scheduled to ensure steady progress, supported by a dedicated online platform for project management and resource sharing. At the end of the programme, teams will present their findings during the presentation and competition day, where their work will be evaluated based on scientific merit, clarity, and innovation. Outstanding projects will receive special recognition and may be guided further for publication or external presentation. Ultimately, YPRQ aims to foster a strong research culture among pharmacy students, encouraging early engagement with scientific work and enhancing their readiness for academic or professional advancement.

Main Competition
The Main Competition was divided into three categories, each designed to showcase participants’ research and presentation skills.
Category A (Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacometrics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmacy Education):
Conducted in two rounds. Participants first presented their posters in a five-minute session with Q&A. The top five advanced to the Final Round, delivering a ten-minute oral presentation using slides, followed by Q&A. Winners were determined based on Final Round scores.
Category B (Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology):
Adopted the same two-round format as Category A, with poster presentations in the Preliminary Round and slide-based presentations in the Final Round. Five finalists were selected, and the top three winners were determined from the final scores.
Category C (Research Proposal Presentation):
Conducted in a single round. Participants presented posters within five minutes, followed by Q&A. Scores were based solely on this session.
Main Competition: Day 1

Main Competition: Day 2

Winners (Main Competition)
The top three winners were selected from each category. Additionally, one Best Poster Award was given per category, and one Best Presenter Award was conferred across Categories A, B, and C.

Lastly, the highest gratitude goes to all participants, judges, mentors, organising committees, and supervising officers whose contributions made the 8th MyPSA National Pharmacy Research Competition 2025 a memorable success.
Research is never an easy journey; it demands time, dedication, and perseverance. Yet, with the collective passion of those committed to advancing this field, growth and innovation become possible. The competition highlighted the spirit of resilience and curiosity that defines true researchers.
Far from being the end of a four-year Bachelor’s journey, this event serves as a starting point for deeper exploration and discovery in research. With such momentum, the future of pharmacy research shines bright. The next chapter awaits at the upcoming editions of NPRC!
