MyPSA National Pharmacy Competition

Untitled design-2

The 6th MyPSA National Pharmacy Competition (NPC) 2026 was successfully organised by the Persatuan Sains Farmasi Universiti Sains Malaysia (PSFUSM) in collaboration with the Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA). The programme brought together a total of 161 participants from 14 Schools of Pharmacy across Malaysia, further strengthening its role as a national-level platform for pharmacy students.

The programme comprised three main components, namely the Piala Aishah Compounding Challenge (PA), Pharmacy Quiz Challenge (QC) and Clinical Pharmacy Challenge (CC). Each component was structured to support comprehensive learning objectives. The Piala Aishah Compounding Challenge (PA) emphasised the application of compounding knowledge through practical tasks that required accuracy and attention to detail in the preparation of dosage forms. The Pharmacy Quiz Challenge (QC) focused on reinforcing pharmaceutical knowledge while promoting healthy competition among participants. Meanwhile, the Clinical Pharmacy Challenge (CC) provided exposure to clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and decision-making in therapy through case analysis.

The implementation of this programme not only assessed participants’ level of knowledge but also challenged their ability to manage pressure, make sound decisions and adapt to demanding situations. In addition, participation from various institutions contributed to strengthening professional networks and relationships among pharmacy students nationwide.

PIALA AISHAH COMPOUNDING CHALLENGE (PA):

The Piala Aishah Compounding Challenge is a competition that aims to demonstrate pharmacy students’ proficiency in applying compounding knowledge to prepare effective and appropriate dosage forms, as well as to enhance students’ understanding of compounding processes through practical application.

The preliminary round tests participants’ theoretical knowledge on topics related to compounding practice, including Latin abbreviations, pharmaceutical calculations, and stability considerations. The semi-final and final rounds focus on the extemporaneous compounding of selected products across various dosage forms, including solid (suppositories, powders), semi-solid (creams, ointments, pastes), and liquid (solutions, emulsions, suspensions).

Top 3 Winners:

KPJU Group B (Champion), IMU Group A (1st Runner Up), USM Group A (2nd Runner Up)
