MyPSA Young Entrepreneur Programme

The MyPSA Young Entrepreneur Programme (YEP) is an annual event organised by the Entrepreneurship Office, with the aim of imparting fundamental knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship to individuals considering starting their own businesses.

MyPSA YEP 2026 introduced a new theme, “From Ideas to Impact: Reimagining the Future of Healthcare,” which aims to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among students by equipping them with essential skills in ideation, innovation, teamwork, and business development, while maintaining strong relevance to the healthcare and pharmaceutical ecosystem.

ACTIVITIES:

PHASE 1: Imagineering Phase

Phase I of the Young Entrepreneur Programme (YEP) was held virtually via Zoom on 24 May 2026, featuring a webinar and a forum focused on entrepreneurial thinking and innovation. Participants gained insights from industry speaker Mr. Kevin Ben Laurence on identifying real-world problems, followed by a sharing session with previous YEP winners who discussed their entrepreneurial experiences and pitching strategies.

 

The session concluded with a briefing on the Phase II Pitching Competition, including the announcement of competition topics and case study questions. One week later, participants were assigned to mentor-mentee groups to receive guidance in refining their ideas and preparing for the competition.

PHASE 2:

DAY 1

Held on 13 June 2026 at Universiti Malaya, Day 1 of Phase II focused on enhancing participants’ entrepreneurial and teamwork skills through interactive activities, workshops, and mentorship. Team-building activities such as the Item Hunt Relay, Startup Identity Challenge, and Real Life Monopoly: Build Your Startup Empire encouraged creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving among participants.

 

Participants also attended workshops on Structuring a Compelling Pitch and Building a Brand Identity and Marketing Strategy, gaining valuable insights into effective pitching, branding, and marketing strategies. The day concluded with mentor-mentee sessions to refine their business ideas and prepare for the pitching competition.

DAY 2

Held on 14 June 2026, Day 2 featured the Pitching Competition themed “Sustainable Pharmaceutical Practices: Reducing Medical Waste.” Teams presented their innovative solutions to a panel of judges, demonstrating their creativity, feasibility, and problem-solving abilities.

 

The programme continued with a sharing session on Funding & Budgeting for Healthcare Startups, providing participants with insights into startup financing and financial planning. Phase II concluded with the announcement of winners, prize presentation, and photography session, marking the successful completion of the programme.
